We’re halfway through 2025, making it the perfect time to revisit our plans from spring and share what’s coming next. This summer, we’re bringing you the features you’ve asked for most, making Proton more powerful, more private, and more responsive to your needs.

As a community-supported organization, we answer to you, which is why we share our plans. Consider this our board meeting with the Proton community. We also rely on your feedback, which we monitor via social media, customer support, and community surveys. After you’ve read what we’re working on, we’d love to hear what you think.

Below you’ll find our high-level plans for summer for each service and, where applicable, a quick look at the progress we’ve made. Check back this autumn for the next round of roadmap updates across all our services.

Proton Mail and Calendar

Newsletters are great — until they take over your inbox. Now you can keep your inbox clutter-free with Newsletters view. It’s a dedicated space that automatically displays all your newsletters, marketing and promotional emails, and other subscriptions. Once there, you can read, delete, or unsubscribe from newsletters with one click. Free yourself from the stress of an overstuffed inbox so you can focus on what really matters.

Proton VPN

You rely on Proton VPN to be your front door to the internet, taking you where you need to go without letting anyone follow you. This spring, we made it more secure. NetShield Ad-blocker has always protected you from malware and trackers. Now, it also blocks nearly all known phishing domains while reducing false positives, letting you browse the internet with peace of mind.

This summer, we plan on making Proton VPN more adaptable. We’ll launch Custom DNS for iPhones, iPads, and Macs, letting you take advantage of third-party DNS resolvers and their advanced features (like parental controls).

Proton Pass

We all need to handle so much information and so many files on a daily basis — logins for accounts, credit cards for shopping, IDs for verification, and more. Proton Pass makes it easy to secure and access all this data, no matter what device you use. In the coming months, we’ll introduce a command-line interface that will let you manage this information directly from your terminal. Whether you’re scripting, building CI/CD pipelines, or just prefer the command line, the CLI puts you in control — with the flexibility to integrate Proton Pass into your workflow, your way.

Proton Drive

Thanks to smartphones, we document more of our lives than ever before. These photos and videos tell the story of your triumphs, low points, and day-to-day life. They belong to you, not a Big Tech company that will use them to train AI or serve you ads. You can now protect these memories (and quickly organize them) with Proton Drive’s Albums, which lets you group photos and videos into end-to-end encrypted collections you can securely share. And this summer, protecting all the photos on your device will be even easier as we speed up our photo backup feature.

You are our advantage

This is an interesting time to be fighting for privacy and freedom on the internet. On one hand, the stakes have never been higher. Governments around the world are resorting to censorship and trying to ban encryption. And AI, for all its promise, could also undermine privacy(nouvelle fenêtre) and elections(nouvelle fenêtre) if we don’t get it right.

On the other hand, people all over the globe are demanding that companies respect their privacy like never before. And monopolies that have been allowed to abuse their competitors and their customers are finally being investigated.

The Proton community has been a priceless, irreplaceable guide through these turbulent times. By building with you, and not for you, you’ve helped us ensure that our services make an impact. Thank you.
